Nevada has only 17 counties. Tax certificates are issued at the annual tax sale in each county but the county acquires all such certificates. They are not available to individuals.
The county treasurer holds the tax
certificates
for two years during which time the delinquent taxpayers have a right
of
redemption. After the period of redemption has expired tax deeds are
issued
to the county and held in trust for the state. The board of county
commissioners
can order a tax sale of property acquired by the county due to
nonpayment
of taxes on tax certificates held for two years or more.
