There are 32 counties in New Mexico. Tax certificates are not offered to the public or acquired by the counties. Tax lien auction sales are conducted by the Department of Revenue and Taxation of the State of New Mexico. These sales are conducted at varying times during the year. During almost every month there is one or more tax sales in this state. Some counties have 3, 4, or even five sales per year. The minimum bid is set by the Department of Taxation and Revenue but is normally less than 10% of the fair market value of the property.
